Goldenseal (Hydrastis Canadensis) is a traditional healing herb of Native Americans, and has since gained a reputation as one of the most powerful healing agents in the herb kingdom. Used externally for skin inflammations, eczema, rashes, poision ivy, soothing itchy skin & as an insect repellant. Unfortunately the wild plant is scarce today because of high demand, careless overharvesting and loss of habitat. Luckily it is easy to grow in full shade and spreads to form a nice ground cover over time. I only use the plants I have established & raised myself, in the natural forest setting that goldenseal thrives in. I ALWAYS divide & replant more than I use, every year. Whenever using this herb, please be sure of its source!
