Herbal Hair Care

All of these soaps can be used for hair care as well! This bar was created solely for hair care, containing herbs, jojoba oil & essential oils for soothing the scalp, eliminating dandruff & encouraging new hair growth. There may be a transition period for 3~6 washings when switching from other shampoos to herbal shampoo bars. This is due to the chemical residue buildup from conventional hair care products. Hang in there though, the results are well worth it! It also may help for some hair/skin types to follow up with an apple cider vinegar rinse to restore and balance pH.

To use~Wet hair, wet soap, lather hair as usual, and rinse well. To use with hair rinse~ Pour 1 TB -1/4 cup cider vinegar into a large plastic cup, topping up with 2~3 cups warm water, depending on hair length. Wet hair, wet soap, lather hair as usual, and rinse well. Use the cider vinegar/ water as the final rinse. As the hair dries the vinegar smell will dissipate. You can also make 2 cups of your favorite herbal tea as a final rinse for added scent and shine. Chamomile, sweetgrass, lavender and mint are nice, and the possibilities are endless!

For extra conditioning, use plain olive oil or one of my bath and body oils (please see this section of my site). I apply just a few drops to the ends of my hair when they are really dry, or to the whole scalp prior to shampooing. I recommend Lavender/Chamomile for light hair and the Comfrey/Peppermint for dark hair, or use whatever smells most appealing to you!
